The sharp taste is caused by the wintergreen oil. This oil is very aromatic with a sweet, woody and ‘minty’ smell. Wintergreen oil is used topically or aroma-therapeutically as a remedy for muscle and joint complaints, arthritis, cellulitis, obesity, poor blood circulation, headaches and many other diseases and discomforts. It also works antibacterial. Taste is of course a subjective concept, but we also think that a fresh breath is important.
For the best wound healing, it is best to use only blue®m products. When you combine blue®m with chlorhexidine, you still kill all bacteria in the mouth and disrupt the bacterial flora. Our products ensure that the bacterial flora stays in balance and also stimulates the good cells instead of killing them. Chlorhexidine does the opposite, and therefore it is not advisable to combine the use of chlorhexidine and blue®m.
The honey from blue®m toothpaste and blue®m mouthwash gradually releases oxygen when it comes into contact with the saliva in the mouth. The system that is put into operation is called glucose oxidase (GOX). In addition, honey normalizes and controls malignant bacteria and helps to reduce plaque formation.
The sugars from the honey in blue®m toothpaste and blue®m mouthwash are converted into active oxygen when it comes into contact with the saliva in the mouth. This is called the glucose oxidase process. Before the sugars can effect the teeth, they have already been converted into active oxygen. So, no risk of caries!
SLS is an ingredient that is mainly used for its cleansing and emulsifying properties: it helps to loosen the plaque and provides a better solution of flavors in the liquid. SLS is not recommended in cleaning products because it can cause dryness of the skin. Because we do not think you use our mouthwash and oral foam on your skin, it does not do harm. We use SLS as a foaming agent in low doses.
blue®m tries to keep its products as natural as possible. However, we will also need preservatives to ensure that all our products remain free of bacteria. In addition to oxygen, we use several fungicidal and bactericidal ingredients, including methyl parabens. This is the synthetic variant of benzoic acid. Our body easily converts this synthetic form into its own form in nature. We have ensured that there is a very low concentration of parabens, just enough to ensure the shelf life. Nevertheless, it is our desire to eventually replace the parabens, our chemists are busy experimenting with this.
There is a small amount of alcohol in the mouth spray and the oral gel. This is necessary for the shelf life of the products. The alcohol in the mouth spray is needed to spray. It does not endanger your mouth, nor does it dry out, because the alcohol has already evaporated before it reaches your mouth. All of our other products are alcohol-free.
Originally, the toothpaste has a brown color, because of the honey. Research shows us that users of toothpaste can not appreciate a brown toothpaste and would not purchase it. The most commonly used colors for toothpaste are white and blue. Because oxygen is blue in its liquid form, we have chosen this color. This also fits well with our name blue®m. The coloring that is in the toothpaste and mouthwash is a natural coloring and is not harmful to the body. The oral gel, mouth spray and neutral mouthwash do not contain coloring agents.
The lactoferrin used in all our products, except the mouth spray and oxygen fluid, is made in a factory where lactose is also processed. Therefore, the products may contain traces of lactose. Since only a very low percentage of lactoferrin is added, this does not pose any risk for users who are lactose intolerant .
The lactoferrin used in all our products, except mouth spray and oxygen fluid, contains 96% pure cow’s milk protein. In our recipes a very low percentage is processed, which means that the end product contains 500 ppm lactoferrin (500 mg / kg). If you swallow more than 10 grams of end product, this can pose a risk.
